Competition Commissions and Authorities
• Hellenic Competition Commission
The Hellenic Competition Commission protects the proper functioning of the market and ensures the enforcement of the rules on competition. It acts as an independent authority and has administrative and financial autonomy.
• UK Competition Commission
The CC is an independent public body which conducts in-depth inquiries into mergers, markets and the regulation of the major regulated industries.
• Irish Competition Authority
The Irish Competition Authority is the State body responsible for enforcing Irish and European competition law in Ireland.
• Competition Commission of Switzerland
The Competition Commission is an independent federal authority. The tasks of the Competition Commission are combating harmful cartels, monitoring dominant companies for signs of anti-competitive conduct, enforcing merger control legislation and preventing the imposition of restraints of competition by the state.
• Australian Competition & Consumer Commission
The ACCC promotes competition and fair trade in the market place to benefit consumers, businesses and the community. It also regulates national infrastructure services. Its primary responsibility is to ensure that individuals and businesses comply with the Commonwealth competition, fair trading and consumer protection laws.
• Competition Commission of India
The Competition Commission of India conducts in-depth inquiries relating to anti-competitive agreements and abuse of dominant position.
• Competition Commission of Singapore
The Competition Commission of Singapore is a statutory body established under the Competition Act, to administer and enforce the Act. It comes under the purview of the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
• Competition Commission of South Africa
The Competition Commission is a statutory body constituted in terms of the Competition Act, No 89 of 1998 by the Government of South Africa empowered to investigate, control and evaluate restrictive business practices, abuse of dominant positions and mergers in order to achieve equity and efficiency in the South African economy.
• Competition Commission of Mauritius
The Competition Commission of Mauritius is a statutory body established in 2009 to enforce the Competition Act 2007. This Act established a competition regime in Mauritius, under which the CCM can investigate possible anticompetitive behavior by businesses.
• European Directorate General for Competition
The mission of the Directorate General for Competition is to enforce the competition rules of the Community Treaties, in order to ensure that competition in the EU market is not distorted and that markets operate as efficiently as possible, thereby contributing to the welfare of consumers and to the competitiveness of the European economy
