The CSR program of Blue Star Ferries, based on our main philosophy that “the boats tie up in the harbors and Blue Star Ferries is tied up with the places”, pays great attention to the aspect of culture, especially when it concerns local communities.
For several years the company responds systematically to various requests for sponsorships from cultural or other groups of the Greek islands. In this way our company supports the local tradition and the continuity of civilization of each island.
During spring-summer 2007 we responded to the needs of the islands’ local communities which were related to culture and entertainment.
Except of the financial aid which was offered to the Children’s Theatrical Scene of Rhodes for the play “The prince and the golden box”, based on the Dodecanese fairytales, the company has supported associations/groups of the Cyclades and the Dodecanese islands. This was achieved either by giving free tickets or by providing up to 50% discount of the transportation cost in order to meet the needs of local festivals and events.
Among others Blue Star Ferries supported the:
- 1st International Cultural Festival, Rhodes.
- 7th Cultural Festival, Naxos.
- 7th Cultural Festival, Tinos.
- Religious Music Festival, Patmos.
- 7th Festival of Aegean cuisine, Andros.
- 29th International Music Festival, Santorini.
- Cultural action “Nisologio”, Donoussa
- Perantinos Museum of Sculptures, Mykonos and Paros.
- Petros & Maria Kidoniefs Foundation, Culture and Figurative arts, Andros
- Cultural events, Hermoupolia 2007, Syros
- Cultural events “Dream Nights”, Mykonos.
For Blue Star Ferries, which offers ferry services in the Aegean Sea on a daily basis, it is a priority to support the local communities with similar initiatives.
