DSME held 2 naming ceremonies for 3 LNGCs.
On April 1, DSME held a naming ceremony at Quay A3 for H.2260, a 145,700 CBM LNGC, ordered through Korea LNG Trading (KOLT), a joint venture of Korea Line Corporation (KLC), Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS), STX Pan Ocean and Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM), and operated by KLC.
H.2260 was named 'K. JASMINE' by Mrs. J. O. Lee, wife of Mr. Y. H. Lee, the Minister of the Knowledge Economy.
Nearly 110 honored guests including Mr. J. B. Lee, Chairman of KLC, Mr. K. J. Kim, President of KOLT, Mr. S. H. Lee, President of KOGAS and Mr. S. T. Nam, President & CEO of DSME, and his wife participated in this happy occasion. Delivery closing is set for May 15.
Furthermore, there was a joint naming ceremony for two 210,100 CBM L- LNGCs bearing H.2250, 2253, co-owned by Qatar Gas Transport Company Ltd.(Nakilat) and J5 (MOL, NYK, K-LINE, MITSUI, IINO) on April 4 at Quay A.
H.2250 was named ‘AL ORAIQ’ by Mrs. Caroline Van Aartrijk, wife of Mr. Ali Al-Hammadi, CEO of TASWEEQ.
H.2253 received the name ‘UMM AL AMAD’ from Mrs. Carol Cassiani, wife of Mr. Steve Cassiani, President of ExxonMobil Upstream Research Co.
The naming ceremony was attended by Mr. Muhammad Ghannam, Managing Director of Nakilat, Mr. Hiroyuki Maekawa, President & CEO of K-LINE, Mr. Nasser Al-Naimi, Commercial & Shipping Manager of Rasgas, Mr. Andy Richardson, Shipping Sub-Project Manager of Qatargas ?, Mr. W. K. Ki, Senior Executive Vice President & CPO of DSME, as well as 110 other guests.
Delivery closing for H.2250 will be made on May 15th and for H. 2253 is scheduled for August, 2008. With the last two vessels named out of a series of five 210,100 CBM L-LNGCs for Rasgas ? train 6 (J5 Large LNGC Project), all of them have been named. We wish ‘Bon Voyage’ to these remarkable vessels.
