Blue Ocean Wireless launches new email service

Dublin, Ireland, 6 June, 2008: Blue Ocean Wireless (”BOW”), an Irish company delivering GSM communication capability for the merchant maritime sector, today announced that it now offers seafarers a new e-mail application, creating a fully comprehensive communications solution.

Ships will now be able to access their e-mail using the BOW network. As with all the BOW products the e-mail system is ‘always-on’ to afford greater efficiency of communication. In addition to the new e-mail service, using the BOW platform, seafarers can make & receive voice calls and send & receive SMS messages using their existing mobile phones.

This new addition to the BOW solution represents a significant development for those working in the commercial maritime sector who can now benefit from an all-inclusive communications solution, greatly improving their welfare and making it even easier to stay in touch.

The introduction of this new application is thanks to the strong market uptake of BOW’s services and is indicative of the continued progress it has enjoyed in rolling out its product. To date, BOW has signed up a substantial number of vessels for installation and the number continues to rise. BOW expects the introduction of an e-mail service to further increase installations as negotiations with major shipping groups continue.

Blue Ocean Wireless CEO, Robert Johnson said, “We are delighted to launch our new e-mail service. Blue Ocean Wireless can now offer seafarers an all-inclusive communications platform making contact with home easier and cost effective including the new Blue Ocean Wireless rates at 99 cents per minute for voice calls. Our customer base continues to rapidly expand, necessitating and facilitating the development of new services. The launch of our new mobile e-mail service reflects the demand for our solutions and the strong progress Blue Ocean Wireless has made since our foundation only one year ago.”
