American Shipping Company ASA is the new name of the company formerly known as Aker American Shipping ASA.

The name change took place at an extraordinary general meeting in Oslo on June 25, 2008. The new name reflects that the US shipping company no longer is an Aker company, after Aker ASA in June reduced its ownership in the company from 53.2 percent to 19.9 percent.
This web site will be updated and relaunched to reflect these changes in July 2008.
