Agreement to Enhance Maritime Cooperation Between Estonia and the People’s Republic of China Will Be Signed on Wednesday
On Wednesday, 24 September Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications Mr Juhan Parts and Vice Minister of Transport Mr Xu Zuyuan of the People’s Republic of China shall sign a Maritime Cargo Transport Agreement between Estonia and China. The agreement is primarily aimed at improving container transport, offering cooperation possibilities for our logistics and transport companies.
Cooperation shall be based on the Agreement on Maritime Transport concluded between the European Union and China. The objective of the agreement between Estonia and China is to promote relations between the two countries and develop maritime cooperation, ensuring equal treatment of ships sailing under the flag of the parties in each other’s ports and simplifying the entry of the crew members of ships sailing under the flag of the parties into each other’s territory.
The bilateral agreement shall regulate cooperation between maritime authorities, recognition of seamen’s documents, matters pertaining to entry into and stay of seamen in the country, as well as issues relating to sea rescue and taxation.
