Jiangsu Rongsheng Heavy Industries Co., Ltd signs Technical Cooperation Agreement with Germanischer Lloyd
Shanghai, 8 August 2008 - Jiangsu Rongsheng Heavy Industries Co., Ltd strengthens its contacts with leading classification societies. The shipyard signed a Strategic Technical Cooperation Agreement with the Hamburg based classification society Germanischer Lloyd. The Strategic Technical Cooperation Agreement covers further cooperation in the fields of Panamax and Post-Panamax Container Ship designs.
The signing of this agreement demonstrates that the cooperation between GL and RSHI has entered a new phase. The two parties will continue to strengthen their collaboration regarding technology, quality and innovation and will further boost the fast development of the Chinese shipbuilding and offshore industries.
The agreement was signed by Dr Hermann J. Klein, GL Executive Board Member, Dr Chen Qiang, Chairman and President of RSHI, and Jan-Olaf Probst, Senior Vice President Ship Newbuilding of GL.

Dr Chen pointed out at the ceremony: “GL is a leading classification society and certification body. Its quality philosophy and high shipbuilding standards help to construct robust ships. GL is a good partner for Jiangsu Rongsheng.”
By signing this Strategic Technical Cooperation Agreement, both sides will further cooperate in an all-around way on the whole spectrum from designing and testing ship and offshore engineering projects to research relating to rules and standards, personnel training, information consulting and market developments.
GL and RSHI will establish a trustworthy relationship through high-level visits, competence and technology exchange, and staff training at different levels.
