Hamburg Süd enhances presence in China with seven proprietary offices

Hamburg, 14 July 2008. As of June 2008, Hamburg Süd has received approval from P. R. China's Ministry of Communications to expand it's network of proprietary offices to a number of key locations. Hamburg Süd (China) Ltd was established in December 2005 at Shanghai and has now been expanded to include new branches at the key transport hubs of Guangzhou, Ningbo, Qingdao, Shenzhen, Tianjin and Xiamen. A total of 100 employees are deployed in these locations and offer customers the full range of Hamburg Süd services including fast and competent on-the-spot decisions.

In just over 18 months Hamburg Süd has enhanced its presence in the Chinese market with a sustainable and comprehensive network of offices. This rapid development is also reflected in advancements made in the liner services which now offer multiple sailings every week in the trades between China and South America, South Africa, Australasia, and most recently the India Subcontinent. As from this month two new weekly fixed day services have been launched providing fast and reliable direct connections from China to India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.
