Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc. Takes Delivery of Sixth Bunkering Tanker Newbuilding in 2008

PIRAEUS, Greece, Dec 01, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc. (NYSE: ANW) today announced that it has taken delivery of the Paros, a 4,645 dwt double-hull bunkering tanker newbuild from Fujian Southeast Shipyard in China. The Paros will be deployed to the Company's Singapore market.

Including the Paros, Aegean now has a current bunkering delivery fleet of 31 vessels and barges, of which 26 are double hull. The Company expects to take delivery of 21 remaining double-hull tanker newbuilds over the next two years, which will increase its total bunkering delivery fleet to 52.

E. Nikolas Tavlarios, President, commented, "With the delivery of our ninth newbuild from Fujian Southeast Shipyard, Aegean has further grown its double-hull fleet and increased its competitive position. The fleet growth has also positioned the Company to take advantage of the strong demand for marine fuel and growth in global seaborne trade despite a temporary slowdown in certain shipping sectors. Including the Paros, we have taken delivery of six double-hull newbuildings to date this year and ten since our IPO in December 2006, which has enabled Aegean to significantly grow sales volumes during this time. Our considerable financial strength positions management to continue to expand Aegean's delivery capacity and increase the Company's earnings potential."
