COSCO Ships Escorted by Chinese Navy

On January 6th, Chinese Navy started the escort mission in the Gulf of Aden off Somalia. Four Chinese merchant ships including two from COSCO Group M.V. Jin He and M.V. Ha Ni He were escorted by the Chinese naval fleet.

The escort mission conducted by flagship DDG-169 Wuhuan destroyer and Haikou destroyer covers the whole 550-nautical mile voyage from the east Gulf of Aden to Bab Al-Mandab Channel. It is estimated the escort mission will be completed on evening of Jan 7th and morning of 8th respectively as the fleets arrive at the mouth of Bab Al-Mandab Channel.
