Anglo Irish Bank Shares Suspended

Anglo announces that it has this morning requested that its Shares be suspended from trading on the Irish Stock Exchange and on the London Stock Exchange, with immediate effect, following the Irish Government's announcement that the Bank is to be nationalised.
The Issue of 1,500,000,000 New Preference Shares as set out in the circular to Anglo Shareholders dated 23 December 2008, will not now take place. Accordingly the resolutions due to be considered at the EGM convened for 10.00 am today, will not now be proposed
