MacGREGOR’s new Greek agent enhances sales activities for newbuilding projects
13 November 2008
As part of a strategy to move closer to its customers and strengthen its market position in the Greek shipbuilding industry, MacGREGOR has appointed a new Piraeus-based sales agent, Oceanking
Cargotec's MacGREGOR business area has strengthened its position and sales activity-potential in Greece by signing a co-operation agreement with Piraeus-based company Oceanking Technical & Trading Ltd. Oceanking will be the sole representative supporting MacGREGOR’s sales activities for newbuilding projects in Greece.
Hans Berg, vice president of common sales for the MacGREGOR Group, says that: “With this new agreement, MacGREGOR is further enhancing the company’s strategy to be closer to its customers. The co-operation covers sales activities for newbuilding projects and will also support MacGREGOR’s divisions and business areas in continuing to attract the Greek shipping industry; an industry which MacGREGOR has a long-term relationship with.”
Oceanking – alongside MacGREGOR’s divisional sales teams, the company’s naval architects and the local MacGREGOR office – will offer MacGREGOR’s total cargo-handling solutions for bulk carriers, general cargo vessels, and container and RoRo ships as well as for offshore support vessels. Mr Berg notes that: “This combines MacGREGOR’s lengthy experience in understanding the cargo-handling processes of various ship types and Oceanking’s local presence.
“We are convinced that this step will bring us even closer to our customers in the Greek market. By increasing our local resources, in combination with our knowledge of the shipping industry, we are taking one further step forward to expand our business and serve our customer base in Greece in a more effective way. Oceanking is one of the leading companies in Piraeus and we are confident that our long-term co-operation with them will add value to the supply chain and further strengthen our historic links with the very important Greek shipping community.”
The co-operation agreement was signed during the SMM exhibition in Hamburg, Germany at the end of September. MacGREGOR and Oceanking are now organising their first co-ordinated event: a technical seminar which will be held around mid November for representatives from the Greek shipping community.
