Kuang Ming Christens the KM Mt. Jade

The KM Mt. Jade, an 81,200-DWT bulk carrier built for Kuang Ming Shipping Corporation, a subsidiary of Yang Ming Group, by Universal Shipbuilding Corporation Maizuru Shipyard, was delivered for service on October 31, 2008. The naming and christening ceremony was held by Mr. Ren-Yu Guer, President of Kuang Ming Shipping Corporation, and Mr. Kuniteru Ishikawa, a Director and General Manager of Universal Shipbuilding Corporation. Ms. Shin-Chen Shih, the wife of Mr. Chih-Tsung Huang, a member of the Board of Directors at Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation.
The KM Mt. Jade is the first delivery vessel for Kuang Ming and will be followed by three more bulk carriers from Universal Shipbuilding Corporation. She is the latest bulk carrier added to Yang Ming Group's existing fleet and the largest panamax bulk carrier of Taiwan's bulker companies. The specifications of this modern ship are 224.9m in LOA, 14.38m in Draft, 32.26m in width and sails at a weight of 81,200 DWT. In keeping with Yang Ming Group's strict policy of environmental protection, the KM Mt. Jade is installed with advanced environmental equipment in accordance with the latest international environmental regulations.
