Abu Dhabi Terminals Opens Polymer Packing
Facility at Khalifa Port

ADT celebrated the opening of a polymer packing facility which is centrally located inside the container terminal. The state-of-the-art packing facility, with an annual production capacity of 700,000 metric tonnes, was designed and constructed by ADT to provide Borouge, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions, more flexibility in their supply chain network.

Part of the celebration included the recognition of the construction team consisting of Schmidt ME Logistics as design consultant, Tebodin as project manager, Züblin as main civil contractor for the facility development, HPPT as the equipment supplier and Agility as the operator for the packing plant.

Building a packing facility inside the container terminal is part of the ADT’s value-added services to reduce supply chain costs by providing port-centric solutions in the form of integrated container handling, 2.5 million sqft. of warehousing and high-end packaging solutions.

Reflecting on the opening, Martijn van de Linde, CEO of Abu Dhabi Terminal, explained, “We understand the increasing need for faster product delivery and bringing our customers closer to the markets they serve. Khalifa Port Container Terminal ships directly to more than 50 international destinations and is ideally located next to Kizad, 75 kilometers from Mussafah and just 45 kilometers from Jebel Ali.” “The investment in the new packing facility is testament to our commitment to add value to our customers by significantly improving the efficiency and speed of the supply chain.” He concluded.
