Submission of Consignee's Merchant Registration Number
on Shipping Instruction for Shipment to Puerto Rico
05 Oct 2011
Effective from 1 December 2011, the Puerto Rico treasury department will require the submission of consignee’s merchant registration number on the inbound manifest for all shipments destined for Puerto Rico. This merchant registration number is an 11 digit number, which consignee would need to advise their shipper to include in the shipping instruction to carrier.
All shippers with shipments to Puerto Rico are advised to start communicating with their consignees and obtain these registration numbers in order to include them in the consignee’s field of their shipping instruction to carrier.
We remind you to comply with this new Puerto Rico treasury department’s requirement to avoid any delays or holds for non compliance.
