Arcardia Shipmanagement press release on "Aegean Angel"

Athens, 3 January 2011

The “Aegean Angel”, while en-route from Tallinn, Estonia to Houston, encountered heavy weather northeast of Bermuda.

On Thursday 30 December, Master, Chief Engineer and Chief Officer had gone on deck to inspect for damage. While they were on deck a large wave struck them with great force. As result, the Master and the Chief Engineer lost their lives immediately, while the Chief Officer was seriously injured.

The injured Chief Officer was transferred by USCG helicopter on 2nd January to King Edward’s Memorial Hospital in Bermuda and reportedly his condition is stable.

The substitute Master and Chief Engineer were transferred on board the vessel by the same helicopter.

The vessel is heading to Freeport, Bahamas where is expected on 5th January 2011.

The management of Arcadia Shipmanagement wishes to extend their heartfelt condolences, sympathy and support to the relatives and friends of the unfortunate seafarers.
