New IMO sulphur regulations recognized as unacceptable

07 April 2010

BPO Seminar's participants agreeably claimed that the situation regarding the new IMO’s SOx marine fuel regulations is serious and chances for changing the established rules are highly unlikely.

Nevertheless there is a need and even an obligation to demonstrate statements on mentioned unfair regulations by interested parties. Additionally European Commission should take an active participation and use its impact to expose everyones unequivocal point of view on the case.

This year as a speakers BPO hosted Mr. Antti Saurama form Centre for Maritime Studies, Mr. Carl Carlsson from the Swedish Shipowners' Association and Mr. John Steen-Mikkelsen from Scandlines Denmark A/S. All highly and substantive contributed the seminar making it more useful and valuable.

BPO is now in preparation to send the BPO’s statement on IMO’s SOx marine fuel regulations to significant governmental, intergovernmental and NGO organizations including IMO, EP, EC and other. The BPO’s statement on IMO’s SOx marine fuel regulations you can find here.
