Any ship movements will be prioritised, and only allowed under strict conditions by time, area, currents, and channel conditions. Movements will also be subject to the channel and berth pockets being unobstructed by sunken debris or other navigational hazards. The channel depths may be temporarily reduced, with deep draft ships restricted to tidal movements. Collection of floating debris Maritime Safety Queensland (MSQ) is coordinating the collection of floating debris from the Brisbane River. They are establishing collection points around the Hemmant reach, and working with the Queensland Police Service to coordinate public collection. Access to these sites will be coordinated through MSQ. The Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd is assisting MSQ in the collection of debris, along with a number of other contractors. Materials will not be kept on port land, and there will be no public access to any areas. We ask that members of the public approach MSQ to enquire about missing items. The next update is due at 6pm on Saturday 15 January. Port of Brisbane Pty Ltd, press release |
