Cargotec delivers MacGregor RoRo port and terminal solutions for Scandlines' ferry terminal in Gedser
7 Apr 2011 - Trade press release (MacGregor)
In March Cargotec secured an order to supply MacGregor port and terminal solutions to the Gedser ferry terminal in southern Denmark. The MacGregor port and terminal equipment will be delivered in 2012 to serve Scandlines' new ferry service on the short route between Gedser and Rostock in Germany.
Cargotec is supplying the following MacGregor equipment:
• movable shore ramps to load/unload the upper & lower decks; all wide enough to allow 2 lanes for trucks
• a passenger gangway - fixed and a movable sections.
• a provisioning tower
• an automooring system
• a storm mooring system (MOOREX type)
"The new ferries have a capacity for 460 cars or 90 trucks, and 1,500 passengers. The disembarkation and embarkation time for the new ferries is to last maximum 15 minutes and thus efficient and reliable MacGregor shore ramps, passenger gangway and mooring solutions are crucial to ensure short port turnaround times. Cargotec's engineering expertise played the key role to win the order, says Per Blad, Sales Manager, RoRo Ships at Cargotec.
