Inauguration of “Containers of Hope”

25 Oct 2012

The CMA CGM Foundation has launched its first major humanitarian transport operation in Africa, alongside Action Contre la Faim (ACF) and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).

Naïla Saadé, President of the CMA CGM Foundation, officially launched the Conteneurs d’Espoir (Containers of Hope) operation at a ceremony attended by Jacques R. Saadé, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the CMA CGM Group, François Danel, Executive Director of ACF-France, and Filipe Ribeiro, Managing Director of MSF.

To symbolize the launch, a container displaying the operation’s logo was unveiled in front of the CMA CGM Tower, the shipping company's headquarters, in Marseille.

The operation will transport 100 containers of humanitarian supplies on CMA CGM Group ships and via its lines. The supplies will be sent to various food aid and health care programs operated by ACF and MSF – two internationally renowned non-governmental organizations – in African countries such as Somalia, Central African Republic, Liberia and Republic of the Congo.
