Success in Independent Installation of the First
Underwater Basement in China

On March 17, deepwater pipe laying floating crane of COOEC –Offshore Oil 201 succeeded in PLEM-2 hoisting of Panyu 35-1/2 Project, with hoisting depth of 275 m and satisfactory position difference and angle difference. This is the first underwater basement hoisting installed independently by China.

Underwater basement refers to a common pipeline manifold facility in ocean engineering of deepwater field. Its main function is similar to wellhead platform, which collects the oil and gas resources produced from wellhead to subsea pipelines. However, compared with wellhead platform, it lowers the cost, avoid the difficulty in constructing and installing wellhead platform in deepwater seas and extend the service life.
