31 October 2023 On the morning of 18th October, N1071, the first 16,180 TEU methanol dual-fuel container vessel of COSCO Shipping Lines constructed by CHI (Yangzhou), was ignited in the joint workshop of the enterprise and entered into the production and construction stage. This vessel is the first methanol dual-fuel large container ship in China, and it is the key for COSCO Shipping to meet the demand of green shipping and promote low-carbon fuel ships. The ship has an L*B size of 367 m*51 m and a maximum loading capacity of 16,180 TEU. The ship meets the EEDIIII energy efficiency index, which can reduce carbon emissions by about 8.9% total. CHI (Yangzhou) together with relevant parties, completed the design work of methanol dual-fuel retrofit, and solved methanol fuel filling, storage, supply and equipment. The vessels are equipped with the world's first set of domestic WinGD methanol dual-fuel main engine, methanol dual-fuel generator, the world's first set of ALFALAVAL methanol dual-fuel boiler, as well as methanol fuel barge and supply system.
