Naming and delivery ceremony for the first 92,500dwt bulk carrier built in Cosco Dalian Shipyard

The first 92,500DWT bulk carrier built by Cosco Dalian Shipyard was named "OCEAN GARNET " on 15th January, 2010. She is the largest bulk carrier built in Cosco Dalian Shipyard since this shipyard, and even the Cosco Shipyard Group, entered the field of shipbuilding.

The naming ceremony was held in the afternoon. The wife of NOBLE's Chairman, Mrs. Susan Elman, was invited to name the vessel. NOBLE's Chairman, Mr. Richard Elman, Vice-Chairman, Mr. Harindarpal Singh Banga and Mrs. Indra Banga together with the shipyard's leaders, staff and other guests, totaling more than 150 persons, attended the ceremony.

A naming reception was held in the evening. Mr.Wang Xingru, President of COSCO Shipyard Group, delivered a wonderful speech and exchanged gifts with the client.

"OCEAN GARNET" was successfully delivered on Jan. 21, 2010 and set sail on her maiden voyage.

This 92,500DWT bulk carrier has dimensions of 229.2m X 38m X 20.7m, a speed of 14.1 knots, and a range of 22,000 sea miles.

The construction of the 92,500DWT bulk carrier series continues to be smooth at present. So far, the second and third vessels of the series will shortly progress to sea trials and launch respectively. The work quality and efficiency are highly appreciated by the ship owner.
