Delivery of Dynacom 1st New Build Vessel N226
2010-5-31
The first 57,000DWT bulk carrier N226, being built for Greek company Dynacom Tankers Management Ltd., successfully completed sea trials in COSCO Guangdong Shipyard on 17th April. The shakedown staff was warmly welcomed by the shipyard leaders.
N226 started sea trials at 10:30 am 14th April, 2010 and returned to the shipyard at 9:00 am, 17th April, 2010. The length of time taken, which included a ten hour voyage to and from the trial site, set a new record for completion of sea trials in COSCO Guangdong Shipyard. Further, during the sea trial process all test items, such as main engine load test and ship performance test etc., were carried out step by step and were achieved with complete success. We have to mention that before sea trial the yard only needed to spend 1 day for preparation. The owner's representative offered his evaluate of the event: "As sea trials for the first vessels in the series, the yard's coordination and organization has been excellent even when compared with other experienced newbuilding shipyards."
The naming ceremony for N226 was held in COSCO Guangdong Shipyard on 26th April. Godfather Mr. Panagiotis, named the vessel as "TOXOTIS" at the ceremony. Representatives from the shipowner, class, shipyard and ship crews witnessed the important moment together. So far, a total of five 57,000DWT bulk carriers have been constructed in COSCO Guangdong Shipyard, and the order for Dynacom is for five such vessels. Construction of the other four vessels is pushing forward on schedule.
On the day after the naming ceremony, just 10 days after sea trials, N226 was delivered to its owner. This vessel is our first newbuilding vessel registered with a European Union country (MALTA). It means higher standards and requirements are applied, especially to the fire-fighting system, life-saving appliances, navigation equipment, and that EC certification is required.
BV Class carried out the ISM/ISPS Audits for N226 and found no non compliances. Furthermore this vessel passed a vetting inspection by the Australian company "RIGHTSHIP P/L" without any adverse comments; This survey is more commonly applied to tankers.
For this delivery we have appreciated the support, cooperation and mutual endeavor of the owner, class and yard building project teams. We wish N226 a smooth journey and are delighted to see COSCO Guangdong Shipyard develop steadily as a result.
