ORPHEUS ORCHID REDELIVERY

After a 172 day conversion, the VLCC to VLOC project "ORPHEUS ORCHID" was redelivered in COSCO Zhoushan Shipyard recently.

It was the second conversion for SINOKOR MARITIME CO., LTD, the first being the successful conversion of "SINOGLORY" in 2008. During the "ORPHEUS ORCHID" conversion, COSCO Zhoushan Shipyard conquered the lack of manpower during Chinese New Year, adverse weather and substantial increases in the total project work scope and delivered the vessel on schedule. It received high praise from the shipowner's on-site project team. The vessel is the seventh VLCC converted by COSCO Zhoushan Shipyard.

The "ORPHEUS ORCHID" is 324 meters long, 60 meters wide and 29.4 meters high. In total 8,800 tonnes of new steel was used in the conversion work and about 400tonnes in general repairs. The special coating area is about 200,000m2. This conversion is the largest by far of VLCC conversion projects handled by COSCO Zhoushan Shipyard.
