Delivery Ceremony for MT LENTERA BANGSA Conversion to FSO

MT LENTERA BANGSA, the first FSO conversion project carried out by COSCO Guangdong Shipyard, was delivered to its Indonesian owner Trada Maritime on 26th of October.

This vessel measures 261.354 meters long, 39.6 meters wide, 23.1 meters high, and has a draft of 15.25 meters. The delivery ceremony was attended by almost 200 people in total, including Mr. Danny, President of Trada Maritime, Mr Wang Xingru, President of the COSCO Shipyard Group, and representatives from the shipyard, the owner and the class.

Mr. Danny and Mr. Wang Xingru delivered their speeches at the ceremony. The delivery contract was signed by Mr. Danny and Mr. Li Rong, General Manager of COSCO Guangdong Shipyard, on behalf of each side. Mr. Danny also offered congratulations to the Guangdong yard for its successful debut into the offshore conversion business, and told them how highly they valued the yard¡¯s project team for their strong sense of responsibility and high spirits.

Mr. Wang Xingru gave his hearty thanks to Trada Maritime for its support, understanding and trust in the yard during the construction process.

Mr. Wang Xingru also expressed his wish that the successful delivery of MT LENTERA BANGSA would put the COSCO Shipyard on a path towards faster growth of offshore engineering in South China, and encourage the yard's conviction to provide more satisfactory offshore products to TRADA MARITIME among other shipping and energy companies in the world.

In recent years, with an aim to further develop the 'high added value' market, COSCO Guangdong Shipyard have completed various large conversion projects such as single hull to double hull, tanker to semi-submerged barge, tanker to bulker and tanker to FSO. This time the Guangdong shipyard successfully pulled off a move into the offshore conversion segment, indicating that the COSCO Shipyard Group is one step closer to achieving its aggressive strategic goal of developing offshore business in subsidiary yards along the eastern China coastline.
