Oil pipeline explosion in Dalian Port

Explosions and subsequent fire occurred at the crude oil pipelines of Dalian Petro China International Warehousing and Transportation Co., Ltd. (大連中石油國際儲運 有限公司, “Dalian Petro China Warehousing”), an associate company in which the Company holds 20% equity interest, in Xingang area around 6.00 p.m. on 16 July 2010 (the “Accident”). Immediately after the Accident, the Company set up an emergency management team and took various measures to control the explosions and fire. The fire has been extinguished and the Accident did not cause any casualty.

The cause of the Accident is under investigation.

The Accident did not cause any direct damage or loss to the main facilities of oil terminals (including the main bodies of the oil storage tanks) of the Company and its subsidiaries (the “Group”). However, certain ancillary facilities of the Group including certain pipelines and control systems, have suffered damages and losses.

The magnitude of the damages and losses caused by the Accident and its impact on the operations of the Group and Dalian PetroChina Warehousing remain to be further assessed. The Company will use its best endeavours to minimize the damages and losses caused by the Accident.

The Company will issue further announcements in respect of the investigation on the Accident and the impact of the Accident on the operation of the Group and will keep the shareholders and the public apprised upon any new development where appropriate.
