DNV expanding cooperation in China

Oslo, 25 August: The China Special Equipment Inspection and Research Center (CSEI) and DNV have signed a cooperation framework agreement. For DNV the agreement entails the start of a close cooperation with one of the key regulatory agencies for the rapidly growing energy and food industries in China.

China a key focus area
The agreement was signed during a visit to DNV headquarters by a delegation from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China (AQSIQ) and CSEI on 25 August. “This cooperation framework agreement will provide a platform for our further collaboration between the two organisations,” announced Vice Minister Liu Ping Jun of AQSIQ, who headed the Chinese delegation.

“Key issues currently concerning China, such as improving energy efficiency, managing climate change, measurement and assessment of energy conservation, as well as establishing world-class standards for safety management, rules and regulation for food and health management can be worked on in the immediate future,” noted Vice Minister Liu.

During the ceremony, Song Ji Hong, Deputy Director General of Bureau of Special Equipment Safety Supervision expressed his appreciation for DNV’s contribution of its advanced knowledge and technology for risk and asset integrity management to China and DNV’s strong support for improvement and sustainability of the oil and petroleum industry in China.

The agreement provides a platform for DNV and the Chinese authorities to work together to make DNV’s standards applicable to China.

Software licence
There was also a signing ceremony for a software license contract executed between Dr. Lin Shu Qing of CSEI and Ketil Aamnes, Global Sales and Marketing Director of DNVs software business area. “This NOK 1.7 million contract on Orbit+ Pipeline is a strategic contract with CSEI which opens up a great potential for DNV in China,” noted Ketil Aamnes.

Aamnes emphasized, “China is a key focus area for DNV, and we have a large Solution Centre for software development in Shanghai. Working with the AQSIQ and CSEI will definitely help us in serving the application needs to build relevant solutions for a continuous prosperous and sustainable China.”
