2009-10-12
At the Seatrade Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards last week, DNV was crowned ‘The Best Classification Society’ for the 3rd year in succession.
The event took place in Dubai and DNV’s victory is the 4th time they have won it over the past 5 years. DNV also picked up the prestigious award in 2005 2007 2008.
“The fact that we have secured a hat-trick of Seatrade awards is unique in DNV terms,” says Peter Hamer, DNV Maritime’s Area Manager for the Middle East. “This award is a tribute to the dedicated efforts of all employees in DNV Middle East, and reflects the standing DNV has in the region and our dedication to providing the right quality services to our customers. Our brand is second to none.”
DNV’s largest share of tonnage ordered by operators in the region, plans to address optimized and more effective operations in order to improve fuel consumption efficiency, their extensive regional presence in the Middle East, innovative programs in technical leadership and efforts in raising safety issues and creating environment awareness were noteworthy said the independent judges.
The award was presented at a gala dinner attended by around 600 senior executives of the region’s maritime and related industries at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai, last Thursday. It is considered by many as an opportunity to recognize the leaders of the maritime industry, whose innovation and dedication to quality is helping to transform the industry.
