Gazprom Neft to supply marine lubricants to the world’s largest icebreaker fleet

Gazpromneft-Lubricants Ltd, Gazprom Neft’s motor oil business operator, has concluded a two-year agreement for the delivery of marine lubricants to the icebreaking fleet of Russian state enterprise Rosmorport.

Under the terms of the agreement the company will supply the North—West Basin, Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, Kaliningrad, Azov Basin, Azovo—Chernomorsky Basin, Astrakhan, Sochi, Petropavlovsk, Vladivostok, Far Eastern Basin, Vostok, Sakhalin and Vanino affiliates of Rosmorport.

Rosmorport will be supplied with a variety of marine oils, ranging from motor oils to industrial oils, and including lubricants under the G-Energy and Gazpromneft brands.

Gazpromneft-Lubricants Ltd is a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft, specialising in the production and sale of oils, lubricants and engine fluids. Established in 2007, Gazpromneft-Lubricants Ltd has five production facilities throughout Russia, Italy and Serbia. Total production volumes stand at more than 490,000 tonnes of premium oils, lubricants and engine fluids per year. The company’s product range includes oils for petrol and diesel passenger vehicles and trucks, transmission and hydraulic oils, industrial (machine) oils, servicing products and refrigerating fluids under the G-Energy and Gazpromneft brands, and marine oils marketed under the Texaco brand. Gazpromneft-Lubricants Ltd currently holds a 14-percent share of the Russian lubricants market, as well as operating in the markets of Belarus, the Central Asian republics, the European Union, Kazakhstan, the Middle East and Ukraine. An agreement extending the territory for the sale and distribution of marine oils under the Texaco brand was signed between Gazpromneft-Lubricants Ltd and Chevron Marine Lubricants in 2013. Texaco-branded oils, produced by Gazpromneft-Lubricants Ltd under licence from Chevron, have since been introduced to the markets of the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania), for the first time.

Russian state enterprise Rosmorport operates the most significant icebreaking fleet in the world. Established to ensure the successful operation of the ports of the Russian Federation, the company has both linear and harbour icebreakers at its disposal, with a total fleet in excess of sixty vessels, including the Yermak, the most powerful diesel icebreaker in the world. The company has 16 branches, located in coastal areas ranging from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea, and including the Sea of Okhotsk, the Sea of Japan, and the Barents Sea. Rosmorport has been centralising the procurement of all lubricants for its fleet requirements across all branches, since early 2014.
