Client information: GL operations in Japan

16. Mar. 2011 | [Group,Maritime] | Germanischer Lloyd (GL) would like to express its whole hearted sympathy with the Japanese people who cope with a three fold catastrophe of a previously unknown magnitude. GL is ready to maintain its services for its Japanese clients in the maritime industry. Due to the radiation risk from the Fukushima Daiichi reactors GL has relocated the majority of its staff to Southern parts of the country for safety reasons.

Services in the greater area of Tokyo and the Northern part of Japan may be limited. Clients who had been in contact with GL's office in Yokohama are kindly asked to contact our office in Kobe. A minimial manning of the GL office in Yokohama remains in place. Our office in Fukuoka will continue to operate unaffected from the circumstances in the North-eastern part of Japan.

GL staff will continue to support our customers in Japan to maintain the highest level of professional services even under these challenging circumstances. We would like to apologize for any inconveniences related to the relocation of our business to Kobe and Fukuoka and remain committed to servicing our customers optimally.
