October 1, 2012

The Barcelona Container Terminal (TCB), part of Grup TCB, has beaten the record of number of operations performed, achieving one of the highest productivity levels in Europe.

During a period of 26 hours, 3.515 containers were moved, thus breaking the last record in terms of operations. This operation was carried out on the vessel MV CMA CGM ENFIELD, built in 2011, and began on September 27th at 8 am, ending on September 28th at 11 am. During this time, 1,598 unloading and 1,917 loading movements were carried out.

On this day, the Barcelona Terminal beat records in terms of productivity. During the operation averages of 60 containers/hour/crane were conducted, reaching a maximum of 66 containers.

These achievements, along with new equipment purchases and expansion works at the terminal, are an example of TCB’s commitment to the continuous renewal and updates that will enable it to meet the challenges and demands of the market over the coming years.

TCB has developed wide intermodal traffic activity in southern Europe, being the first organisation that impulsed the container traffic in Spain from its first installations in 1972. It is located in a logistics hub, in between the Consortium of the Zona Franca and the airport, and has direct access to the main roads of Europe and the Iberian Peninsula.
