The “Santa Rosa” is the sixth newbuilding in a series of ten identical container ships which each have a slot capacity of 7,100 TEU and are fitted with 1,600 reefer container plugs apiece. This makes them some of the largest vessels ever built for Hamburg Süd. All ten ships of this series are to be delivered by summer 2012. Since her delivery at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. (DSME) in Korea in July 2011, the “Santa Rosa” has been operating in Hambug Süd’s service between Asis and South Africa/South America East Coast (New Good Hope Express). The “Santa Rosa” is named after the Argentinian town in the province of La Pampa.
