Inmarsat distribution partner Stratos and its channel partner Zedi, a specialist in end-to-end management of oil and gas operations are installing the IP-based network on sites. The SCADA network will help monitor critical technologies such as electrical submersible pumps and downhole pressure and temperature gauges. All monitoring will be controlled from the customer's global operations centre. Ruggedised The SCADA network uses Addvalue's Sabre Ranger, a ruggedised, compact BGAN terminal developed by Addvalue in partnership with Stratos and the end-user. It is specifically designed for permanent fixed-site deployment and 24/7 network connectivity in the harsh environments associated with remote SCADA deployments. The Sabre Ranger delivers high speed IP data at up to 492 kbps and voice connectivity anywhere in the world. In this deployment, the BGAN terminals are connected to the Zedi Intelligent Network, which delivers highly reliable and accurate data to the desktop via Zedi Access, a secure web portal. The new customised network, which was rigorously tested for nearly two years, replaces the customer's older generation Inmarsat GAN Mobile Packet Data Service. Inmarsat Plc, press release |
