Aiming to Further Raise Corporate Value April 1, 2015 Greetings Fellow Stakeholders. My name is Eizo Murakami and as of today I have the honor of leading Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha’s (“K” LINE’s) businesses. As I assume my new role as President and CEO of “K” LINE, I would like to say a few words. Our previous medium-term management plan, “Bridge to the Future,” was geared towards addressing three major issues over a three-year period: returning to profit in FY2012; building the system that brings stable business profits; and improving financial strength. With these targets already basically achieved, thanks to the understanding and support of our stakeholders, “Bridge to the Future” was concluded at the end of March this year. Today we venture into a new fiscal year and the start of our new medium-term management plan “ Value for our Next Century,” which defines our management objectives over the next five years. The last year of this new five-year plan will mark the “K” LINE Group’s 100th Anniversary in 2019, and to commemorate this, our Group’s unwavering determination to raise corporate value is being reflected in the plan’s name. The first half of this plan will be a period focused on further strengthening our financial position based on improved earning power while the last half will be dedicated to growth into strategically expanding businesses based on financial soundness. This is the essence of our new medium-term management plan. “K” LINE has experienced many challenges since its establishment, but thanks to the wholehearted understanding and support of everyone involved, and the efforts of our predecessors, I’m pleased to say that “K” LINE has been able to successfully overcome these hardships. With all the uncertainties in world politics and economies, the shipping industry will continue to be affected by various geopolitical influences in the future. Under our new medium-term management plan we will continue to promote further business growth based on financial soundness in order to contribute to a global society in which people can live well and prosperously. The start of our new medium-term management plan today marks the beginning of a new challenge for the “K” LINE Group as it undergoes and adjusts to changes in top management. Speaking on behalf of the entire “K” LINE Group, each and every one of us involved will work vigorously towards accomplishing the objectives of this new business plan, and we will be deeply grateful to have your continued support and encouragement in this endeavor.
