Arctic Research Vessel "Dana V"

4 June 2024

KNUD E. HANSEN proudly presents the first images of the 70-meter Arctic Research Vessel (KEH ARV-70), meticulously designed for the Danish National Institute of Aquatic Resources (DTU Aqua).

Over the past year, the Dansk Dana Konsortium (DDK) - a strategic partnership between KNUD E. HANSEN (KEH) and Odense Maritime Technology (OMT) - has transformed the initial 68-meter concept into an extensive 70-m tender design.

This evolution encompasses comprehensive engineering, propeller design, model testing (ice, manoeuvring, seakeeping, cavitation, and self-propulsion tests), underwater noise analysis, and innovative measures to minimize bubble sweep down, culminating in a state-of the-art Polar-class research vessel.

DTU Aqua has now released a public tender for the detailed design and construction and delivery of the vessel, named 'DANA V'.

This design highlights our unwavering dedication to collaborating with institutions and shipowners to tailor our designs to their specific needs. Created in close collaboration with DTU Aqua, the design meets the distinct requirements of the university and its stakeholders.

The facilities are thoughtfully crafted to provide unparalleled opportunities for maritime education, research, and innovation at sea.

Workshops were conducted with crew members and researchers to ensure their valuable insights are seamlessly integrated into the final design.
