Current trading situation from Asia to Latin America – Rate restoration

Trading conditions for the carriers operating in the markets between Asia and Latin America are still subject to unacceptable rate levels and the situation is unsustainable in the longer term.
In a continued effort to provide our customers with best in class service in the region, Maersk Line is now announcing a rate restoration program from Asia to Latin America:
1st June USD 300/600/600 per 20'/40'/40'HC between Asia and the West Coast of South America
1st June USD 200/300/300 per 20'/40'/40'HC between Asia and Central America and the Caribbean (Costa Rica, Panama, North Colombia, Venezuela, Caribbean Islands)
1st June USD 200/300/300 per 20'/40'/40'HC between Asia and Mexico and Middle America (Mexico, El Salvador, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua)
Further rate increases and a peak season surcharge will be applied later in 2009. The exact timing and amounts will be advised in due time.
