Rate increases in the Middle East
& South Asia to Europe trade

10 August 2009

Maersk Line would like to announce rate increases on our Middle East and Red Sea services to Europe.

The trading conditions for the carriers operating in these markets are still subject to unacceptable rate levels and the situation is unsustainable in the longer term. The rate increases are necessary to continue to operate our services with the high level of reliability our customers have come to expect from Maersk Line.

Middle East and Red Sea to the Mediterranean and North Europe

• USD 150 per 20’ dry container effective 1 September 2009
• USD 300 per 40’ dry container effective 1 September 2009

As also announced the 8 June 2009, we will increase rates on our services from South Asia to Europe as follows:

South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka) to the Mediterranean and North Europe

• USD 150 per 20’ dry container effective 1 September 2009
• USD 300 per 40’ dry container effective 1 September 2009

The increases apply to all cargo and commodities, excluding reefers.
