Maersk Line introduces an enhanced eastbound service from South Vietnam to the United States West Coast. With the introduction of the Pacific Express Service, Maersk Line has established an industry-best lead-time product, utilizing a proven network, consistently rated number 1 in schedule reliability amongst the top 20 ocean carriers.

The Pacific Express service commences with the initial sailing from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) on 16 September 2009.

“Vietnam is a fast-developing market with significant growth as a sourcing location. We have analyzed the deployment and terminal opportunities in Vietnam and have listened closely to our customers to provide a product that delivers best-in-class service and lead-time. We are very pleased to offer this improved service in this important market,” Peter Smidt-Nielsen, General Director of Maersk Line Vietnam.

With a lead-time from origin cutoff to discharge of only 17 days, the improved Pacific Express product will better support customers’ efforts to enhance the efficiency of their supply chain. With a Tuesday cutoff at the vital factory hub of Cat Lai near Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Maersk Line offers the fastest and most convenient service to the US West Coast.

Integrated into Maersk Line’s trans-Pacific service network, the dedicated Pacific Express service offers a seamless and ultra-reliable connection, via Hong Kong, to our premier TP6 service with direct service to Los Angeles.
