Update (3) - MOL Pledges to Support Relief Efforts for Typhoon Afflicted People in the Philippines

Tokyo - November 14, 2013





Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President: Koichi Muto) today announced that MOL executives and employees have organized a charity donation program within the MOL Group of companies. MOL expresses its heartfelt sympathy to afflicted people.

The company has already made a monetary donation of US$30,000 to emergency relief efforts and decided to provide free transport of relief supplies by containerships to the central Philippines devastated by the recent typhoon.

The main portion of MOL's donation will go to afflicted people on the island of Leyte, through its group company Magsaysay MOL Marine, Inc.(*1) The company is planning other relief efforts as the situation unfolds.

The MOL Group hopes afflicted people will be able to return to normal life as soon as possible, and pledges a range of ongoing measures to support relief efforts.

Containerships Will Transport Emergency Aid Supplies

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President: Koichi Muto) today announced that the MOL Group will provide free transport of relief supplies by containerships to the central Philippines devastated by the recent typhoon.

The company has already made a monetary donation of US$30,000 to emergency relief efforts.

The MOL Group expresses its heartfelt sympathy to the people and communities afflicted by this disaster and hopes they will be able to return to normal life as soon as possible.

Ocean transport of emergency relief supplies by MOL containerships

Items covered:
Grant aid supplies from contributors such as governmental institutions, municipalities, and government-approved aid organizations. However, some items such as dangerous articles, animals, and other regulated items may not be accepted. Please contact an MOL office or agent for details.

Type of transport:
By containership (dry containers)

Loading ports:
Ports where MOL Group-operated vessels make direct calls

Unloading ports:
Port of Manila, Philippines

Scope of transport:
From container yards in loading ports to container yards in unloading ports

Conditions of acceptance:
Contacts of both consigners and consignees are clearly identified, and customs clearance procedures at both departure and arrival ports and procedures for land transport must be arranged by the consigners and consignees without fail. Acceptance may be adjusted depending on space available on operated vessels and conditions at terminals.

Period:
Aid supplies must be delivered to container yards at the loading ports by the end of December 2013. As shipping capacity is limited, transport of those supplies will be on a first-come first-shipped basis.

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President: Koichi Muto) today announced plans to make a donation of US$30,000 to aid afflicted people of Typhoon Haiyen, which devastated the central Philippines. MOL expresses its heartfelt sympathy to afflicted people.

The main portion of MOL's donation will go to afflicted people on the island of Leyte, through its group company Magsaysay MOL Marine, Inc.(*1) The company is planning other relief efforts as the situation unfolds.

MOL has built a deep relationship with the nation as many Filipino seafarers serve aboard MOL Group vessels, and established a maritime training center there.

To assist afflicted people of Typhoon Fengshen in June 2008, which caused severe damage to the nation, Ketsana in September 2009 (Luzon), and Washi in December 2011 (Mindanao), MOL made monetary donations and provided ocean transport of emergency relief supplies, and MOL seafarers and Magsaysay-MOL employees conducted volunteer activities.

The MOL Group hopes afflicted people will be able to return to normal life as soon as possible, and pledges a range of ongoing measures to support relief efforts.
