Applicable to: Ship owners, ship managers, operators, masters and crew of Singapore-registered ships and the shipping community

1. The Prime Minister of Singapore has declared a period of National Mourning from 23 March 2015 to 29 March 2015 for the late Mr. Lee Kuan Yew. As a mark of respect, all Singapore-registered ships are requested to fly the Red Ensign at half-mast from 23 March 2015 to 29 March 2015.

2. The proper procedures for hoisting and lowering of the Red Ensign at half-mast are as follows:

a) When hoisting the flag, it should be hoisted to the finial (top of the mast) for an instant, and then lowered to half-mast.

b) When lowering the flag at the end of the day, it should be hoisted to the finial (top of the mast) for an instant, and then lowered.
