NYK and Mitsui & Co. Conclude Time-charter Contract for Second New LNG Carrier for Cameron LNG Project

On January 29, NYK concluded a time-charter contract with Mitsui & Co. Ltd. (head office: Tokyo; president: Masami Iijima) for a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier for the Cameron LNG project based in the U.S. state of Louisiana.

Mitsui & Co. Ltd. will take LNG produced from this project which promote in the U.S. state of Louisiana and this is second new contract, following the contract concluding with Mitsui & Co. Ltd. on September 26, 2014. The ship will be delivered in 2018 and assigned to transport this project’s LNG for a maximum of 25 years. The new vessel will be owned by Rosewood Shipping Pte. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of NYK, and an NYK Group company will be responsible for ship management.

In accordance with its “More Than Shipping 2018” medium-term management plan, NYK will continue its efforts to contribute to stable and economical LNG transport services.

(2) Specifications of vessel: One moss-type LNG carrier with a capacity of 177,000 m3
(3) Owner: Rosewood Shipping Pte. Ltd. (100% owned by NYK)
(4) Charterer: Mitsui & Co. Ltd.
(5) Ship management: NYK LNG Shipmanagement or NYK Shipmanagement Pte. Ltd.
(6) Shipbuilder: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd.
(7) Term of contract: Maximum 25 years after delivery
(8) Delivery: 2018 (scheduled)
