Friday, 12 April 2013
Cruise tour operator PAC Group, which is among the ten largest ones in Russia, begins to work in Ukraine. On March 26 the company opened its office in Kiev. The staff will consist of 10 employees and the company intends to sell products through the agent network, the Forbes informs.
PAC Group intends to compete on the market by providing comprehensive Russian-speaking service from embarkation to excursions. Other operators provide such services only in the peak dates - New Year and May Day celebrations.
Also in 2012, the company received the status of general sales representative in Russia and some other CIS countries of one of the world's leading cruise line MSC Cruises, which has increased the number and range of offerings.
"Capacity of Ukrainian cruise market in the past five years has increased by five times", - said Larissa Slobodyan, the Director of tour operator "Express-Voyage", the representative of international company Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. According to her, about 12 thousand of 1.3 million organized tourists choose cruises. And if the average price of the cruise is estimated by market participants at the level of 1200-1500 US dollars per person, so the market in monetary terms corresponds to the level of 15-18 million US dollars a year.
The main reason for increase in demand is destruction of stereotypes. Ukrainians are no longer considered cruises a luxury type of travel.
