During the last couple of months, the vessel successfully completed a comprehensive test pro-gramme (Harbour Acceptance Tests). On Monday 28 November 2016, M/V Copenhagen therefore went on a five-day sea trial (Sea Acceptance Tests), where among other things the manoeuvrabil-ity was tested under usual and unusual conditions. M/V Copenhagen and the approximately 100 sea trial participants went among other things to the northern Kattegat. ”The vessel performs fully as expected, it is a pleasure”, explains Senior Cap-tain Christian B. Jensen. ”The maximum speed was measured at 24.5 knots off the Swedish coast”. After the successful sea trial, M/V Copenhagen returned to the shipyard FAYARD A/S for the final adjustments. On Monday 19 December 2016, the vessel set course for its future route between Rostock in Germany and Gedser in Denmark. M/V Copenhagen will go into operation on Wednes-day 21 December 2016 at 09:00 from Gedser. FAYARD A/S’ CEO Thomas Andersen says: ”I am pleased that FAYARD and our employees have been able to tackle the task and am very happy that Scandlines’ new hybrid ferry now leaves the yard as a beautiful swan”. Together with the manufacturer of the diesel electric engines of the vessels, MaK/Caterpillar, Scandlines has deemed it necessary to rebuild the injection system (common rail) of M/V Berlin’s and M/V Copenhagen’s engines. Unfortunately, the new injection modules cannot be delivered un-til 1 January 2017, and both vessels will therefore be converted during January 2017. Accordingly, M/V Kronprins Frederik will take turns during January, to replace the two new vessels. Conse-quently, the yard stay will not affect the timetable for the Rostock-Gedser route.
