June 7, 2021 Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (HQ: 1083 Tsuneishi, Numakuma-cho, Fukuyama, Hiroshima, Japan; President: Sachio Okumura) completed its first 42,000MT bulk carrier, TESS42, on May 13 at TSUNEISHI GROUP (ZHOUSHAN) SHIPBUILDING (Address: Xiushan, Daishan County, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, China), its Group company in China. The greatest feature of TESS42 is that it combines versatility with cargo capacity. With the same overall length (180m) as the popular TESS38 ship model, TESS42 has an additional deadweight capacity of about 2,000MT at the same draft and of about 4,000MT at full load. TESS42 leads the trend toward larger handy sizes in the market. The cargo hold can accommodate the three major bulk cargoes of iron ore, grains, and coal, as well as hot coils, sulfur, etc. Furthermore, the lumber can also be loaded on deck by using the fastening device. This enables the ship to carry both bulk cargo and lumber in one voyage and realize flexible shipping. TESS42 also boasts excellent fuel efficiency and environmental performance. By optimizing the ship model, fuel consumption has been reduced by over 4% per ton mile compared to TESS38. The cruising range has also been greatly increased. Environmental performance has been enhanced. In addition to meeting NOx Tier III standards, the ship is equipped with a scrubber to comply with sulfur oxide (SOx) emission control regulations. Tsuneishi Shipbuilding will continue to provide customers with high quality ships that are both environmentally friendly and economical.
