Vroon signs agreement with ABN AMRO and CEXIM

We are pleased to announce that, during a “Sino-Dutch dinner” held in Beijing on 15 November, Vroon signed an intention agreement with the ABN AMRO Bank and the Export-Import Bank of China (CEXIM), for the financing of some vessels currently under construction in China for Vroon.

The trade dinner was attended by 300 guests, including Chinese government officials, the Netherlands Ambassador to China, Mr. Aart Jacobi, and several Dutch CEOs. Guests of honour were the Dutch Prime Minister, Mr. Mark Rutte, and the Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade, Ms. Lilianne Ploumen.

The agreement, which was signed by Mr. Joop Wijn (Member of the Managing Board, ABN AMRO), Mr. Li Zhongyuan (General Manager, Transport Finance Department, CEXIM) and Mr. Pieter Vroon (Vroon Group Supervisory Board member), represents an important step in further strengthening Vroon’s relationship with both banks.

Vroon has extensive, long-term business relations with a number of Chinese companies and banks. During the past 10 years, Vroon has had more than 50 vessels constructed by various Chinese shipyard groups. Currently, the company has over 30 vessels on order in China, with delivery scheduled in the period 2013-2016.
